Since we can now leave the golf course safely, we can bring the 'Fun - Raising' power of a Golfathon or campus wide tournament to your school, park, neighborhood or corporate park.

A Golfathon is as easy as a Walkathon to produce, y
ou're just raising dollars per hole instead of per mile.  You then have an exciting day playing golf around campus for as many holes as you can, as a result, 80 players can raise between $25-50,000.

There are two key advantages to an On-Campus Golfathon. First, since it's your venue, you get to keep the majority of what you raise, far more than many fundraisers on the market.  Second, our Golfathons can be a one stop, yearly platform for every club, team and organization to raise money for their respective needs.  As a result, this can benefit small clubs who have been unable to organize successful fundraising drives. Off-Course Golfathons make raising funds simple.  Since you are raising money through nickels, dollars and dimes, you just need motivated players, our OCGTour registration and donation engine and the course...then go out and have some fun.

Let's do the math.
If 40 players get 10 donors to give them a $1 per hole, and each player plays 36 holes, you gross $14,400 in just one day.  Best of all, you can do 36 holes in approximately three hours.  Imagine the financial success of your event with 72, 140, or even 200 players!

OFF-COURSE GOLFATHON ADVANTAGES

1. PLAYERS, NOT SPONSORS REQUIRED:  Your key engine of fundraising is your players.  Sponsorship can always bring added value to your event.

2. FUNDRAISING SIMPLIFIED:
Players drive the fundraising campaign by directing donors to our on-line registration website.

3. MAXIMIZED REVENUE FOR YOUR CHARITY:
By eliminating costs such as green fees or cart rentals, we have drastically reduced the cost of your charity event.

4. MORE INCLUSIVE PARTICIPATION:  Our events provide the opportunity for many ages and abilities to participate.  As a result, your event has the potential to grow year after year.

5. SHOWCASE YOUR CAMPUS:  Your course will change and evolve in following years, so it's a new golf course each season.  It is a great way to showcase your corporate park for customers or your campus during alumni fundraising events.

6. INCLUDE YOUR COMMUNITY:  Upon completion of your golfathon event, you can add pay-to-play golf rounds to maximize your charity return.

GOLFATHON FUNDRAISING CALCULATOR:

The charts shown below illustrate how a small number of motivated players can achieve your fundraising goals.  You can focus on one simple goal: To get your players to sign up as many donors as possible.

Important note:  "Donors" are defined as people recruited by the player to pledge toward the event.  "Supporters" are defined as people who are recruiting donors for a player, but they will not be playing.   This means your fundraising numbers can grow exponentially with the addition of "supporters", the results can quickly become staggering dollar amounts.  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

THE OFF-COURSE GOLFATHON GUIDEBOOK

Overview:
Many school based golf clubs and golf teams face difficult financial times paying for coaches, insurance, enough range balls, and tee times for their players, not to mention being able to help develop primary school programs. They also face difficulties growing their teams or clubs because of lack of on-campus exposure and awareness.

Here is a simple on-campus or golf course fundraising approach designed to fit into the primary and secondary school charity models of walk-a-thons.  Your players just need to sign up donors on a ‘$ per hole’ basis, create your own 9-18 hole course, and start playing.

Your goal:
The goal of any Golf-a-thon is to raise as much money for your program or charity as you can.  The basic way to raise a lot of money is to get as many players/friends and family as you can to play as many holes as they can.  It's simple, straight forward and produceable with help from our organization.

  1. Easier fundraising:  Like a walk-a-thon, each player takes a registration sheet home and signs up as many sponsors as they can. The sponsor agrees to donate a dollar amount per hole. (Anywhere from 25 cents to several dollars a hole)

  2. Start playing:  The player’s goal is to play as many holes as they can. Generally on-campus courses can be any size or shape you would like them to be. Most often you want to create tight courses of between 9-24 holes.  Since you can play off-course in about 1/3 the time of a traditional golf, the players can play the course mulitple times. Usually they play 18-24 holes in the morning, have a BBQ, then another 18-24 holes in the afternoon.

  3. Extras:  Bonus dollars: You can set your Golf-a-thon up so players get double dollars for birdies or eagles from their pledgers.

  4. Prizes:  To attract players, you can put up fun prizes for low scores, most birdies, hole in ones, most money raised etc.

  5. Pace of play:  To speed up play, you can make the golf-a-thon a competition to see how many holes a player or team can cover in a specific time period.

  6. Pay-to-Play:   To accomodate as many players as possible, you can arrange tee times, a simple entry fee and registration after your official event for those players who just want to come out and pay-to-play.  This is a great way to recruit players for future events.
